100G VXC Expansion: Now Available From 597 Data Centers Worldwide

100G VXC Expansion: Now Available From 597 Data Centers Worldwide

By Michael Reid, Chief Executive Officer & Board Director

Our 100G connectivity is now one of the most widely available in the NaaS market with new locations across America, Asia Pacific, and Europe.

Due to a combination of technological advancements and the forced innovation brought on by COVID-19, businesses are now processing more data than ever. Analytics engines and big compute are being introduced and leveraged across diverse infrastructures. Generative AI is being incorporated wherever businesses can fit it, taking processing capacities to their limits.

All the while, globally-distributed enterprises with teams scattered across countries and network endpoints are fighting to keep their latency low and their productivity high. All of these factors have created rapidly increasing capacity requirements on a global scale.

We’ve already offered 100G VXCs for a while to meet these growing needs. But now, we can share a huge update with you – we’ve expanded the global availability of our 100G VXCs, offering them from 597 data centers worldwide:

  • 337 across North America
  • 107 across Asia Pacific
  • 153 across Europe.

With the addition of these new 100G VXC locations, we now have one of the most widely available 100G bandwidth solutions in the Network as a Service (NaaS) market.

An introduction to Virtual Cross Connects

In Megaport’s infancy, when we launched VXCs, the team loved watching all the ways our customers used them – to expand their business, speed up their time to market, and make their lives easier by adding on-demand interconnection to their network.

Simply put, VXCs are direct ethernet connections to any endpoint on the Megaport network, spun up in sections. VXCs are a streamlined alternative to your typical “DC-cloud-DC-provider” connections, and bandwidth options range from 1 Mbps to 100 Gbps to meet any requirement imaginable.

When you provision a VXC, you get all the benefits of using the Megaport network:

  • Get access to our global network of locations, on-ramps, and providers.
  • Get near-uninterrupted connectivity on a highly available network.
  • Deploy new connections, turn connections off, and scale existing connections all on-demand – no wait times, no lock-in contracts, no hardware.
  • Manage and oversee your connections in just a few clicks via the Megaport Portal.

Why 100G?

With 100G VXCs now available from so many locations, you’ll have unmatched geographical freedom when it comes to optimizing your network.

Whether you’re dealing with data-heavy applications, large-scale cloud migrations, or just need that extra bit of oomph to ensure seamless operations, 100G connectivity can handle it all. This level of bandwidth gives you the flexibility to scale up your operations without worrying about bottlenecks or downtime.

You can provision 100G VXCs to:

  • Simplify capacity planning and management by consolidating your connections
  • Improve network resiliency, with the ability to push higher workloads through some connections
  • Enjoy uninterrupted connection for faster time to market and better productivity
  • Effectively manage traffic spikes and fluctuations – especially important for industries like healthcare, finance, and media
  • Future-proof your network so you can adopt new technologies and platforms with ease.

This global expansion isn’t just about having a wider presence – it’s about providing you with the ability to design and scale your network architecture with flexibility. Whether you’re supporting a multinational operation or a highly localized service, you can now tap into these benefits where and when you need them.
