Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Now Available on Megaport Virtual Edge

By Henry Wagner, Chief Marketing Officer

A recognized leader in SD-WAN, Aruba Networks is the fourth SD-WAN integration partner for Megaport Virtual Edge.

Today we’re happy to announce the integration of Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform on Megaport Virtual Edge (MVE). Aruba Networks is the latest global market-leading SD-WAN technology partner in our quest to transform and modernise edge networking. Our customers will be able to instantiate virtual Aruba EdgeConnect instances on MVE, and extend Aruba’s SD-WAN fabric to the very edge of Megaport’s global, private Software Defined Network (SDN), improving network performance in 22 metros worldwide.

About Aruba EdgeConnect

For the past four years, Aruba has been named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for WAN Edge Infrastructure. Acquired by Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) in 2015, Aruba joined forces with Silver Peak in a separate HPE acquisition in 2020. Aruba EdgeConnect is the SD-WAN edge platform offered by Aruba (SilverPeak) to advance enterprise cloud transformation with a comprehensive edge-to-cloud networking solution covering all aspects of wired and wireless local area networking (LAN) and wide area networking (WAN).

“Megaport Virtual Edge offers Aruba EdgeConnect customers an additional way to modernise and secure WAN edge infrastructure,” said Fraser Street, WAN Technical Alliance Coordinator at Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company. “The joint solution accelerates data transfer, reduces operating costs, and simplifies commissioning and maintenance.”

Optimising middle- and last-mile SD-WAN connectivity

In IDC’s recent Worldwide SD-WAN Infrastructure Market Shares, 2020: Growth Remains Strong as Market Evolutions Continue report, “the SD-WAN market continues to be one of the fastest growing segments in enterprise networking,” driven by “centralized, policy-based management of hybrid WAN connections; dynamic path selection of application traffic between enterprise data centers, clouds, and other branch offices; and increased levels of programmability, security, visibility, and analytics of all WAN traffic independent of the type of link.”

The report also cites “the growing trend of partnerships between SD-WAN vendors, public cloud providers, and “SD-Core” middle-mile players that enable enterprises to create direct connections and low-latency on-ramps between SD-WAN offerings and public clouds…More than ever, applications and workloads, which are more distributed in the cloud era and have gained unprecedented importance in the context of digital transformation, set the agenda for agile, intelligent, and secure networking across the WAN.”

Integrating Aruba EdgeConnect with MVE, in addition to our integrations with Cisco SD-WAN, Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, and Versa Secure SD-WAN (which is part of Versa SASE), will give customers four of the top six SD-WAN providers in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant for WAN Edge Infrastructure. According to IDC, these four vendors account for 62.7% of the Worldwide SD-WAN Infrastructure Market Share. With SD-WAN traffic riding Megaport’s global, private Software Defined Network (SDN) to applications in the cloud, optimising middle- and last-mile connectivity, customers can drastically reduce egress fees and improve network performance and reliability.

As a vendor-neutral service provider that continually strives to offer our customers maximum choice and business agility, we will continue to integrate other SD-WAN platforms onto MVE.

We’ve only begun to transform the network edge.
